Camper Safety
At Inspiration Hills, we are dedicated to the safety of parents, staff, and campers alike. We have detailed procedures in place to ensure everyone's safety during emergencies. Our staff is trained and tested in these procedures. Our summer staff go through 2-3 weeks of training that include these procedures. Below are our procedures for different emergency events.
In the event of any emergency, parents will be appropriately contacted regarding the situation, according to the extent of the situation.

Excessive Heat
If humidity levels do not drop overnight or if the area is under an excessive heat warning overnight, all campers will sleep in the Lodge. Outdoor activities will be minimal, and camp counselors will remind campers to continue to drink water. Inspiration Hills will contact parents regarding the situation as necessary.
Fire
In the event of a fire, all campers will be promptly led out of the building. Camp counselors are trained to bring their campers to a fire-safe location. They will then take a head count. Parents will be appropriately contacted regarding the situation, depending on its extent.

Thunderstorms/Severe Weather
The Programs Team monitors the weather daily. In the event of severe weather, all out-camps (Saddle Up and Wilder) will be moved indoors. Campers will still have indoor activities as long as severe weather persists. If the severe weather lasts into the night, all out-camps will sleep in the lodge. Camp counselors are trained to count all their campers in emergency situations. Parents will be appropriately contacted regarding the situation, depending on its extent.
Flooding
In the event of excessive rain causing flooding, all out-camps will be transported to the lodge. All thunderstorm/severe weather protocols will be followed, and parents will be appropriately contacted regarding the situation, depending on its extent.

Tornadoes
In the event of a tornado, all campers and staff will take cover in tornado safe locations. Camp counselors are trained to count all their campers in emergency situations. Parents will be appropriately contacted regarding the situation, depending on its extent.
