C.H.I.P.S. is a leadership program where campers will stay at camp for two weeks instead of one. The first week is similar to other camps, with the addition of lessons and exercises in leadership. From team building to selflessly serving others, campers will learn and practice how to be effective leaders for Christ. C.H.I.P.S. campers will have an opportunity to experience and visit other camp programs (Wilderness, Lodge, and Day Camp) and get to see how camp works behind the scenes. In the second week, C.H.I.P.S. have the opportunity to co-lead a bunk group alongside a counselor!

Due to the nature of this program, each C.H.I.P.S. camper will go through an interview process to determine if C.H.I.P.S. is the right camp for your camper. When registering, your camper will be placed on a waitlist until the interview. After the interview process, the program team will decide on the acceptance of the camper into the program. You will not be charged until a decision is made.

**Please note, High School Camp is also an option for those who aren't interested in or accepted into this program**

What to Expect

LEARNING TO LEAD

In this first week of C.H.I.P.S., campers are experiencing all that camp has to offer! They engage in chapels, teambuilders, games, activities, Bible studies, and the list goes on. However, in the C.H.I.P.S. program, an emphasis is placed on leadership and serving. The C.H.I.P.S. engage in leadership lessons and opportunities throughout this first week, as well as the opportunity to serve in different areas throughout camp. Some of these things include running the canteen, caring for trails, and looking after the lodge.

Weekends are spent at camp as well! C.H.I.P.S. leave camp for a service day on Saturday as they come alongside a local non-profit. On Sunday, the CHIPS go to church together and get ready for the next week!

BECOMING A LEADER

This week is unique to C.H.I.P.S. as they become junior counselors! C.H.I.P.S. are paired with a camp counselor based on who would work well together and connect best for discipleship. CHIPS walk alongside their counselor to lead their bunk group in bible studies, activities, and more. This is an amazing opportunity to get a glimpse into what it is like to work at camp and lead those beside you.

CHIPS FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • Where do I drop off my camper?

Drop off for C.H.I.P.S. is at the main lodge! There will be staff and signage to guide you through the process.

  • Can my camper have their phone?

At Inspiration Hills, we encourage our campers to fully unplug. Please, have your camper give you their phone. Phones will be confiscated and placed in a secure location until the end of the week.

During the weekend, CHIPS will receive their phones for a short time to connect with family and loved ones before heading into the next week.

  • What are the qualifications for the C.H.I.P.S.?

A CHIP is someone who is rooted in their faith, has a desire to grow, and has a servant heart. They are involved in a local church and have the desire to help others in their community.

The C.H.I.P.S. interview process will include questions about each of these areas.

  • How do I RSVP for the final chapel?

You may RSVP with the C.H.I.P.S. coordinator at Monday registration or call the office at 712-986-5193.

  • What if my camper is not accepted into the C.H.I.P.S. program?

Please keep in mind that the C.H.I.P.S. program may not be the best fit for every camper. If your camper is not accepted into the program, or if you believe they would thrive better in a different setting, that's perfectly fine!

Another excellent option is High School Camp, which offers a week of classic camp activities.
