HOMESICKNESS: Homesickness is a normal reaction to a new environment.  Camp staff are trained in dealing with homesickness.  Parents can help by:

bullet

* Talking positively about the camp experience.

bullet

* Don't express your own anxiety about the child being away from home.

bullet

* Read books about camp.

bullet

* Send along a favorite stuffed animal, family picture or other familiar item.

bullet

* Send or deliver letters to arrive on first or second day of camp.

bullet

* Avoid phone calls.

bullet

* Not telling your child that you will come and get them if they are homesick.

TELEPHONE CALLS:  We discourage phone calls to or from camp because they can exaggerate homesickness.  If we feel a call to Mom or Dad is needed, we will contact you.  For emergencies please call the office at 712-986-5193.

CAMP PHOTO:  Every camper will receive a colored 5X7 photo of their camp.

DRESS CODE:  Modest clothes without offensive wording and modest swimsuits (one piece) are requested.  Only one pair of flip flops are necessary as they are worn only to the pool.  Send a pair of long pants and sweatshirt along for those cool nights.

LOST & FOUND: Items left after each week of camp are posted on our web site each week under  Lost & Found and are held until the end of September.  We request that you arrange for pick-up of items, or pay for postage if items are sent by mail.
